Wheelchair Athletics Club “heartbroken” after vandals destroy specialist kit

Dumfries and Galloway Wheelchair Athletics Club were left devastated after vandals set alight to tens of thousands of pounds worth of specialist equipment stored in a container at the David Keswick Centre.

Back in May of this year, Dumfries and Galloway Wheelchair Athletics Club were left devastated after vandals set alight to tens of thousands of pounds worth of specialist equipment stored in a container at the David Keswick Centre.

High jump mats were positioned around the container before the fire was set, destroying custom-made kit, spare parts, helmets and other specialist equipment used to provide disable youngsters with the chance to take part in athletics.

After hearing the news, GalloGlas Group reached out to the Club with hopes to deter and capture any future opportunist vandals by installing four 5MP Light Hunter Cameras on the site which Quality Essential Distribution quickly supplied to kickstart the install.

The LightHunter camera provides colourful and high-resolution images in different light conditions and will ensure CCTV images provide details such as facial features, clothing colour and even car registration plates. This information can be provided to police and more importantly significantly improve the security of the storage facility and deter any future attempts by vandals.

Richie Nicoll, Managing Director at GalloGlas said:

“GalloGlas were delighted to be given the opportunity to secure Dumfries & Galloway Wheelchair Track Athletics Club after their recent arson attack.  It was heart breaking to see so much vital kit and equipment destroyed by such a mindless attack. At GalloGlas Group, we commit to a certain amount of non-profit jobs to help our local community and this was exactly the type of project that met this criteria. This gives Shelby and Co our ‘Complete Peace of Mind’ promise, and that their newly purchased equipment is monitored 24/7.”

Market Weighton Dental Practice was one of the first Practices in England to close over concerns for patient and staff safety during the COVID-19 outbreak.

Recently featured on the BBC, State of the art Market Weighton Dental Practice was one of the first Practices in England to close over concerns for patient and staff safety during the COVID-19 outbreak.

Forward thinking practice owner Mark Crimes decided to install a Steriloc Sentry at the entrance to ensure patients and staff properly sanitise their hands before entering.

Market Weighton practice is due to re-open on Monday 8th of June and the Steriloc is now forming part of the surgery’s’ Standard Operation Procedure. Mark Chrimes says “It’s thought that direct contact is the most common route of infection transmission. Using the Steriloc hand sanitiser should help break this chain of infection transmission and thus keep our patients and staff safe’’.

Electricity Northwest Training Centre
