Sustainability

Every day at QED, we make choices that we know will have impact far beyond our business, and that’s a responsibility we take very seriously.

Sustainability and the future at QED

We can’t ignore how serious climate change is and how quickly we need to act to minimise the damage to our planet. With every business decision, we try to do the right thing for our employees and the environment. By actively seeking ways to minimise waste, optimise efficiency, and reduce our carbon footprint, we aim to create a positive impact while supporting our customers in achieving their own sustainability goals.

Here are some of the actions we’ve taken so far:

We appointed a new recycling champion, Hannah Whittle, Operations Manager:

I’m delighted to be the champion for the business, I recycle at home, and I always wanted to bring what I did at home into the workplace. I know if all businesses adopt similar recycling initiative, together we can make a big difference. I want QED to be one of those businesses that do their bit to tackle climate change.

As of 2024, we are delighted to be accredited with ISO 9001. This accreditation reflects our dedication to delivering consistent, high-quality solutions while maintaining a customer-focused approach. By adhering to ISO 9001 principles, we ensure that our processes are efficient, sustainable, and aligned with the needs of our clients and stakeholders.

We care about the environment, and we are continually improving internal processes and encouraging other to take measures to reduce the carbon footprint. We installed a cardboard shredder to re-use any cardboard for packaging goods.

  • Set up recycling bins throughout the offices and warehouse
  • Changed waste collection supplier with more waste separation options.
  • Separate scrap metal and electronic components which are recycled by specialists
  • New procedures introduced with the aim of becoming a paperless office
  • Installation of solar panels on the building roof helping to power our IT systems.
  • Switched from incandescent light bulbs to energy-saving LED bulbs
  • Most rooms have motion detecting lights which automatically turn off. Otherwise, we turn off lights in areas of the office and warehouse when not being used.
  • Introduction of Battery storage
  • Purchased 4 Hybrid Cars as company Vehicles
  • Introduced remote working, where possible, to reduce the negative impact of commuter traffic
  • Reduced regional van deliveries by switching to Couriers
  • Our courier, DPD, also have many ‘green’ initiatives. They are opening Electric Depots first in London where everything is run on electric including the vehicles that deliver goods. They plan to introduce these depots city by city across the UK.
